What happens in a conested divorce case at the hearing to assign trial date?

Contested divorce Niether of us are being represented by an attorney because neither can afford to hire one. What happens at the first hearing to assign a trial date? Will I have the opprotunity to speak my mind or make any requests? Just want to know what goes on.
It is being contested because she is trying to take the home that I bought and paid for !2 years before We got married. A $300,000.00 house is worth fighting for.

I’m not an attorney, and my divorce didn’t involve my personal attendance at any court dates. But if the hearing is to assign a trial date, it ought to do just that, and I’m guessing you will have no need to speak your mind or make any requests. Without an attorney, obviously neither of you will be filing any motions.

If you have no money, why do you need to contest. Just get it done with and go the uncontested route and work it out. If you really can’t work with your spouse at all on this some counties have mediation services. Call the county court where they handle divorces in your area and see if they have a Family Law Center, mediation services, or anything.

The contested route is for angry people who want to take money from their spouses and give it to lawyers.
