Everyone I know who has divorced with pets has left them all in one place together...but they had all been around each other for a long time. I imagine it would be like seperating siblings if they have been around each other for a long time...
Best of luck..hope it all works out.

Ohhhhhhhhh...I get it. For a second I was thinking that you meant the dogs were getting divorced. I was like, what?? Anyway, I haven't experienced this personally, but I would suggest calling your vet and seeing what he/she says. Besides you and maybe a couple others, your vet is the one who knows your dogs best (medically). The vet can recommend getting another dog, putting on medication if needed, and many more things. Don't worry, though. A lot of times the dogs will be fine with it unless they are really dependant on the other.

I don't know much about dogs separated by divorce settlement, but from past experience we had 3 dogs and found a new home for 2 of them...(we were moving and could only take one). For the first few days Shelby was fine because she was getting all of the attention but after about the 3rd day she started sleeping alot and wouldn't eat as much. We made sure she to keep plenty of water in her. We also made sure that no matter what, she was not neglected or left out of anything we did as a family. I think that after about a week, she started to adjust to the changes and she has been very happy since. Just making sure to spend one on one time with your dog will help alot. Good luck.

I would say it would greatly depend on the age of the dogs and how long they had been together. The older the dog, the harder the adjustment will be. The only experience I have had is when one of my dogs has died and the others have had to adjust to it (just last week), and it seems that the older dogs took a little longer to realize he wasn't coming back.

I would give the dog you have extra love and attention to try to fill the void of being away from the other dog. If you see that there is a problem (the dog won't eat, doesn't sleep, gets aggressive), talk to your vet about things you can do to ease the changes in your dog's life.

Yep. I had a greyhound, my ex took the lab mix. They were fine. The grehound just needed some extra attention, that is all. . .and believe me, he was a sensitive dog, but it worked out.
